Nosferatu (1922, F.W. Murnau)
The greatest vampire film of them all is the first vampire film ever made, before all the cliches of the Dracula story. It is not a scary movie that makes you jump out of your seat but a haunting film like an eerie nightmare that we cannot forget, nor do we want to forget. To quote Roger Ebert, "To watch F.W. Murnau's 'Nosferatu' is to see the vampire movie before it had really seen itself."
F.W. Murnau also directed: The Last Laugh, Faust & Sunrise
Rating: Masterpiece
