Film of the Day: 11

All the President's Men (1976)

"A man is not finished when he is defeated. He is finished when he quits."  Well all I can say is it's a good thing he quit.  Richard Milhous Nixon finally resigned from office on August 9, 1974 and was the only president in history to to ever do so.

Back in 1972, an anonymous person known only as 'Deep Throat' provided Bob Woodward (a reporter of the The Washington Post) with information stating the involvement of President Nixon in the Watergate Scandal.  At first Nixon of-course denied all allegations towards him on the Watergate scandal yet today in 1973, Nixon finally gave the world what it deserves and he confessed his role in the Watergate cover-up.

The best film that depicts the Water gate scandal including the Washington Post story and their struggle to get the story along with Deep Throat (later revealed to be former Federal Bureau of Investigation Associate Director Mark Felt) is 'All the President's Men'.  This was a terrific film with an amazing script and a wonderful job by director Alan J. Pakula at his very best.

Whatever your opinion is on the matter, this film remains a great detective story and a true American classic.
